Care for Aging Loved Ones
Dad Guild was founded to celebrate fathers as nurturing caregivers to their children. But at this stage in life many are not just serving as caregivers to their own kids but to aging loved ones as well.
Join us as we host a conversation featuring Jennifer Harbison and Lauren Hemond, both Caregiver Support Specialists at Age Well, the Area Agency on Aging for Northwestern Vermont. We’ll discuss:
What are signs an aging loved one needs additional support
What elder care options exist in Vermont
Tips for how to have conversations about elder care with aging loved one
But most importantly, we’ll just create a space for dads and masc-identifying caregivers to talk and share about elder care. Even if this is not something a dad is experiencing today, it is something that many will one day. Being prepared and informed goes a long way to lowering stress for all involved.

Welcome to Fatherhood (WTF)
WTF! This three-hour workshop for expecting dads takes place quarterly. Dads-to-be will get the crash course on all things baby- related, including hearing from a doula from Vermont Doula Company and from a handful of “seasoned” dads about what to expect. They’ll also get the 20-minute Dad Guild orientation so they all know how they can get involved in Vermont’s largest fatherhood community. Participants will get an instant network of folks in similar positions getting ready to transition into parenthood, and everyone will receive a free copy of the book Baby 411.

Babysitter Mingler
If only we had a nickel every time a father talked about wishing he could have an evening out with his partner, but unfortunately did not know any babysitters in the region. Well for all of you caregivers looking to meet some babysitters...we’ve got you covered.
Our first mingler events were so popular, we are making this a regular seasonal event. We’ll be inviting a bunch of available babysitters to the space. You and your family can spend some time chatting with them, seeing who is a good fit for your needs, and exchanging contact information. Please note that Dad Guild is not vouching for any of these sitters, but is creating the space for folks to connect.

Understanding Child Dysregulation
When your kid is melting down at the end of the day, do you know what’s happening in their brain? In this workshop, we'll learn all about dysregulation and the "window of tolerance," which will help us better understand why our child is expressing big feelings that may show up in a variety of different ways. We'll then reflect on how we can become more attuned to our children's regulatory states and how we can intervene using co-regulation. This workshop is facilitated by Alex Shevrin Venet, education expert and author of the books Equity-Centered Trauma Informed Education and Becoming an Everyday Changemaker.
